Chimney Rock Gem Mine
A trip to the Chimney Rock Gem Mine is a must while you’re in the area. Located on the banks of the river, it gives visitors a chance to search for their very own gemstones. Aquamarine, Emerald, Ruby, Garnet, Peridot, Quartz, Agate, Hematite, Amethyst, and Sodalite have all been found here. In addition, attendants are always on hand to identify your finds!

The Rocky Broad River provides anglers with plenty of fishing opportunities. The upper sections near Bat Cave are stocked with trout, and the lower sections are great for small and largemouth bass. The Rocky Broad River is fast-moving. Therefore, it is ideal for canoeing, kayaking, and whitewater rafting. The Broad River Paddle Trail is the best place for river access. Here, you will find 12 distinct sections on 41 miles of river. The Paddle Trail runs between Lake Lure and the Cleveland County line. For paddling, most sections are best if the Lake Lure dam is running. However, some sections are runnable after heavy rainfall. Mondays and Fridays are the most common operating days for the dam. Lake Lure Beach and Water Park
The beach by the lake is perhaps one of our communitys most well known landmarks, as visitors and residents visit the beach on a regular basis. The beach and water park consists of approximately 3-acres and is located in the Town Center. Like the lake, the beach and water park are owned by the Town of Lake Lure and managed by contractual agreement with a private company. The beach is operated by Lake Lure Tours. The Lake Lure Flowering Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that leads visitors across the Rocky Broad River. This flowering bridge measures over 150 feet long and 20 feet wide. With over 15 unique gardens, you could easily spend an entire day in the incredible garden.. Best of all? It is open to the public for free from sunrise to sundown!
This park features beautiful vistas of the mountains of Hickory Nut Gorge and is a popular choice for an impromptu picnic, sunbathing, reading, bird watching and catching an afternoon nap in a lawn chair by the lake. It is a 23-acre community park in the center of town at the western end of Lake Lure. The park is conveniently located next to the Municipal Center. Open year-round, the park is popular with residents and visitors alike. Whether you are up for a casual stroll, a short speed walk or a low-impact jog, this park is ideal for all three. Morse Park consists of four distinct areas, the meadow, the gardens, the wetlands, and the riverside.

Hickory Nut Falls
At 404 feet, Hickory Nut Falls is the second highest waterfall east of the Mississippi River. It was even featured in the movie The Last of the Mohicans! Hickory Nut Falls is located in Chimney Rock State Park and is an easy 1.5-mile hike through the forest, with plenty of rock cliffs and natural wonders along the way. The trail brings you up close to the base of the thundering waterfall.

The Lake Lure Olympiad is an annual, charitable, sports festival held in beautiful Lake Lure, North Carolina during a weekend of serious athletic competition and fun-filled events for the entire family. The Olympiad includes sports events for all; with a golf tournament, pickleball tournament, sprint triathlon. long distance swim and much more. This annual event always starts with a beach party and cookout at Rumbling Bald Resort, along with family games on the beach, a family “fun run” and a free fireworks show. Held on the last weekend in August each year, the Olympiad has helped raise over a hundred thousand dollars for area charities since it was founded nearly 8 years ago.
