Rocky Broad Riverwalk

Take in the sights and sounds of the river on the Rocky Broad Riverwalk. This lovely trail runs parallel to Main Street in Chimney Rock Village. Several picnic sites are available, and the path offers easy access to restaurants, mini-golf, and gem mining. It’s a great place to connect with the area’s natural beauty!

Chimney Rock Gem Mine A trip to the Chimney Rock Gem Mine is a must while you’re in the area. Located on the banks of the river, it gives visitors a chance to search for their very own gemstones. Aquamarine, Emerald, Ruby, Garnet, Peridot, Quartz, Agate, Hematite, Amethyst, and Sodalite have all been found here. In addition, attendants are always on hand to identify your finds!

The allure of Lake Lure NC is without a doubt the natural beauty that surrounds the town: mountains, waters and wildlife. Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park is a fall color lover’s feast, and a granite beacon for nature lovers––it even seems playfully crisscrossed with spectacular, yet safe, WNC hiking trails. They combine into North Carolina mountain adventures in as near to postcard perfect settings as you’ll find.

Lake Lure Inn & Spa & Annual Dirty Dancing Festival

Morse Park Meadows in Lake Lure. The daytime family dance festival is an all-day affair with live bands and dance performances, a beer and wine garden, games for all ages, a dance lessons tent, food and craft vendors, and of course the infamous Lake Lift Competition! With admission all entertainment, games and dance lessons are free, and you can come and go throughout the day with your admission wristband! The River



The Rocky Broad River provides anglers with plenty of fishing opportunities. The upper sections near Bat Cave are stocked with trout, and the lower sections are great for small and largemouth bass. If you are unfamiliar with the river, sign up for a guided fly fishing trip with Southern Appalachian Anglers! This company offers a variety of excursions, including full-day and half-day fly fishing, bass fishing, and combinations of both.

The Rocky Broad River is fast-moving. Therefore, it is ideal for canoeing, kayaking, and whitewater rafting. The Broad River Paddle Trail is the best place for river access. Here, you will find 12 distinct sections on 41 miles of river. The Paddle Trail runs between Lake Lure and the Cleveland County line. For paddling, most sections are best if the Lake Lure dam is running. However, some sections are runnable after heavy rainfall. Mondays and Fridays are the most common operating days for the dam. Lake Lure Beach and Water Park

The beach by the lake is perhaps one of our community’s most well known landmarks, as visitors and residents visit the beach on a regular basis. The beach and water park consists of approximately 3-acres and is located in the Town Center. Like the lake, the beach and water park are owned by the Town of Lake Lure and managed by contractual agreement with a private company. The beach is operated by Lake Lure Tours. Flowering Bridge

The Lake Lure Flowering Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that leads visitors across the Rocky Broad River. This flowering bridge measures over 150 feet long and 20 feet wide. With over 15 unique gardens, you could easily spend an entire day in the incredible garden.. Best of all? It is open to the public for free from sunrise to sundown!

Morse Park

This park features beautiful vistas of the mountains of Hickory Nut Gorge and is a popular choice for an impromptu picnic, sunbathing, reading, bird watching and catching an afternoon nap in a lawn chair by the lake. It is a 23-acre community park in the center of town at the western end of Lake Lure. The park is conveniently located next to the Municipal Center. Open year-round, the park is popular with residents and visitors alike. Whether you are up for a casual stroll, a short speed walk or a low-impact jog, this park is ideal for all three. Morse Park consists of four distinct areas, the meadow, the gardens, the wetlands, and the riverside. The most difficult thing to do will be deciding where to plant your lawn chair or spread your picnic blanket.

Hickory Nut Falls

At 404 feet, Hickory Nut Falls is the second highest waterfall east of the Mississippi River. It was even featured in the movie The Last of the Mohicans! Hickory Nut Falls is located in Chimney Rock State Park and is an easy 1.5-mile hike through the forest, with plenty of rock cliffs and natural wonders along the way. The trail brings you up close to the base of the thundering waterfall.

This annual event always starts with a beach party and cookout at Rumbling Bald Resort, along with family games on the beach, a family “fun run” and a free fireworks show.
